Round Top Roundup: Designer Dream Spree 2019

Round Top, Texas, nestled between Houston and Austin may appear little more than tiny Texan town to the average traveler, but the interior design community knows differently. This town in Fayette County, with a population of under one hundred people, semi-annually becomes a playground for treasure hunters.
The fall edition of Round Top Texas Antiques Show plays host to the Designer Dream Spree panel. The panel was founded in 2016 by Julie Dodson, of Houston-based Dodson Interiors, to attract A-list designers to Round Top aiding the venue in becoming a destination for fine antiques, one-of-a-kind finds, and vintage objects all with a big dash of that famous Texas hospitality.
In the show’s 51st year and the panel’s 4th year, Robert Passal, along with three other design industry giants, came together, to discuss topics surrounding “Exceptional Discoveries”. Krissa Rossbund of Traditional Home, the event’s sponsor for the second year, moderated the panel. Robert was joined on the stage at The Compound by Mary McDonald, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, and Suzanne Kasler.
Relishing in the moment to speak on stage with the other experts, Robert participated in a fun-filled weekend fully immersed in the Texas lifestyle. There were infinite amounts of Texan cuisine, endless shopping and an equal amount of laughs amongst peers.
The Designer Dream Spree event was named Best Design Event by Modern Luxury’s Texas Interiors in 2018. All proceeds from the event each year go to benefit local and regional animal shelters. The next Rountd Top Antiques Fair is scheduled for March 30 – April 4, 2020. Don’t miss it!
